Thanks!

I believe the penpal idea is a, potentially, good one bar the online security risks that exist today. Teachers would do well to approach their district personnel in order to "regionally/nationally organize" a penpal campaign.

This would go very far in allowing students to experience other areas, both geographically and culturally, as opposed to their simply studying such from textbooks.

Also, it should be stressed that such a project should be, exclusively, limited to school settings/environments in the interest of security against potential pedophilia, although I don't have the answer for ensuring that students don't harvest their penpal email addresses for home use.

I teach a 3rd grade class of 32 students and would be interested in communicating with other students from different parts of the United States. My students are presently involved with studying the East Coast, Canadian Border States and the Hawaiian Islands. However, if you show an interest in learning about California and it's history we would be thrilled to share our newfound knowledge with others. Please do not be put off with the number of students that I have. One or more of my students will respond to each of your snail mail with illustrations. Thank you for your interest in advance.

There is an excellent website called e-pals. You can request a class at your level and state which country you might converse with. We did it last year, a grade 4 class in Canada penpalling with a class from Britain. The kids loved it.
Hope you find this useful.

I am looking for penpals for my 3rd graders in Arizona next school year. I usually have around 20 students, give or take a few. I just want to make sure whoever we do this with will really write back at least once every 2 months? I got in a situation this year and we wrote twice without receiving anything else. Very disappointing....Kris daugherty@uneedspeed.net

Hello.

I am teaching a third grade class of 20 students in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I am also seeking pen pals for my students so that they may practice letter writing.

Ideally, I would like to locate students overseas, but another state's students would be good as well. Please let me know of any classes or organizations that would and can help out.

Thanks

I too am in need of 3rd grade pen pals. This is my first year teaching 3rd grade. We have 20 students and would love to correspond with other 3rd graders around the country (or world). We live in a rural part of Florida...If you are interested please e-mail me to set it up.
Thank you

I am teaching third grade for the first time this year and I am trying to find another third grade teacher who would like to give his/her class writing practice by becoming pen pals with my class. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I might find a potentially interested teacher?

Thanks!

My 3rd grade class would love to write to you. We are looking for pen-pals. I need to know how to contact you so we can begin corresponding.
We are in Wayne County Mississippi.
