introductory ecology

Hi everyone, I'm after ideas for teaching the introductory couple of lessons for a year long Ecology course for grade 7. It's at a First Nation high school, which puts a slightly different slant on it!

The term 'First Nation' is the Canadian equivalent of 'American Indian'. So it's a school on a reservation.

Wel,l I am not really up on Native American folklore, but here goes, there is the whole story of Turtle Isand and interconnectedness to the world.

Here is a link that has 150 folklore stories, - there have to be some that speak to how Earth is affected by internal and external changes (ecology)...
