When my son was 3.5 years old he was diagnozed with a leaky gut. We successfully started to treat him with a GlutenFreeCaseinFree diet and a whole load of food supplements. He started growing and his general development inproved a lot. He has successfully completed grade 1.
Having him at home for the long summer holiday (I teach at his school and try to keep him in his daily schedule as much as possible) I realize he still shows a lot of AD/HD characteristics (e.g. impulsive, hyperactive, cranky, excessive talking without being able to focus on the topic, short term memory problems).
Last week I took him to a specialist who is specialized in Sensory Integration and she thinks that she can help him with SI-therapy.
He also has epilepsy since the age of 1.5 years old. Although on the highest dosis of medication for his age, until one year ago we couldn't get the seizures (30-60/day) under control. Then I started the food supplement Selenium, and since the day after his seizures have been under control.
Does anybody have experiences with children with similar problems? Have you ever heard of a relationship between these individuals problems? Do you think SI-therapy will be useful for him? Do you have any useful information to share with me?
B.t.w. I live in Indonesia with little professional support!
Thanks!
