My daughter, who is almost ten, is now reading at the end of sixth grade level. So far, the only books I can find that have appropriate content are not challenging enough for her. Does anyone know of any books that are challenging, yet appropriate for a Christian young lady?
Thank you in advance,

I've been teaching religious kids for many years, and completely know the difficulties that you face. I could spend hours in a library nixing books that all other schools may find great and appropriate. So I have a small list for you, it's mid-5th through 8th grade level, depending on the book, I listed them in order.
The Black Stallion
Jack Black and the Ship of Thieves, by C. Hughes (you may need to white out a few lines in this book, but it won't effect the plot)
The Hideout
Running Out of Time, M.P. Haddix (I censored 4 lines in this book)
Waiting for Anya
The White Mountains, by J. Christopher (it's part of a Trilogy, all the books are good)
Hope this helps!

Well this thread is old but I have the perfect suggestions. The books by G.A. Henty are well received by Christian parents. I have never read one of his books but intend to soon. You might even be able to pull some of them up on Project Gutenburg, since they are older books.
Another suggestion is a series we read years ago called the Bantry Bay Series, and they would be great books for 10-12 yo advanced readers. They are funny and sad and heartwarming all at the same time, and so thoroughly wholesome that even the most straight-laced parents could be comfortable with them. I believe the author is Hulda VanStockum. (Check my spelling.)
Have you seen the books by Edward Eager? Half Magic was his best known book--I read it as a child in the 60's and it was old then. They may be a bit young for a 12 yo though. Maybe a 10 yo.
One guideline I used with my daughters, who were advanced and voracious readers, was to look at the date the books were written. Anything written before the 50's is going to be clean and at least passingly Christian. I may be back with more recommendations--I came on here with suggestions on books that aren't as well known.
