Does anyone have lesson plans on cells that is at a third grade level? I am having difficulty finding information that is acceptable for 8 year olds. Any lessons or web sites would be great! Thanks!

What type of cells? Plant or Animal
Are you just teaching about organelles (cell parts)?
Why don't you make Jello cells with your kids?

We did an entire unit on cells with third grade. We bought( but you can also borrow from your middle school) two nice microscopes from Carolina biological. We also purchased premade slides from wards.
We took it really slow. We made icecream cup cells, we used pipe cleaners to****make 3-d cell mobiles, we made two huge cell models using a squarish rubbermaid container(plant cell) and a small kiddy pool for the animal cell. We used liquid starch and food coloring to make the cytoplasm. The kids loved it. We also looked at cell function, and micro organisms. The kids loved it. There is a lot you can do and you will be amazed at how much your kids enjoy learning about cells.

Could you share info on how you made the cells? All your ideas sound great. Would appreciate any instructions you are willing to share.
