Hi, sorry this isn't the answer to your question, but have you thought about going to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and buying bathroom wall board. It's not very expensive and often, they'll cut it for you. It may be a little more expensive than contact paper and cardboard, but a whole lot sturdier.

If you don't find the answer to your question, laminating cardstock paper works well for erasable marker boards. You can use overhead projector markers which are a little easier to come by than dry erase markers are.

My kids and I made these wonderful little inexpensive chalkboards. You need a thicker quality black construction paper and elmers glue(all purpose). You also need to have sponge paint brushes.
1. Lay your black construction paper on top of a protected flat surface.
2. Pour your elmers glue onto a styrofoam plate.
3. Apply thin coats of glue to your construction paper, letting it dry between coats. We usually apply three coats.
4. Let dry 24 hours before using.

For added stability and personalization, you can add a frame or backing.

This is a great and inexpensive chalkboard for homeschoolers as well as a gift for parents.

We use the plastic sheet protectors and put white paper in them. They will erase with kleenex.
