I am currently working on my RANK I. I am doing a unit focusing on money and I am looking for some ideas that I can use in my special education classroom. If anyone has any ideas please share with me! Thanks for your help. :)

I teach sp. ed. students and use touch math to teach counting silver coins.
The nickel is tapped one time with the thumb and you say 5.
The dime is tapped two times, with the thumb say 5, the pointer say 10.
The quarter is tapped 5 times, start with thumb and count by 5 on one hand to 25.
Pennies are counted with the pinkie finger to remind them it's the smallest amount.
With this system, students can become very successful in counting money. Then you begin to teach them how to add 5 or 10 to numbers to enable them to count coins without tapping them.
You can use the same system with paper money.
Good Luck!
I made my own class currency. We create an entire economic system in the room.
