Have you ever asked your students to construct an electronic database in order to analyze and report on characteristics of literature selections? I am writing a lesson plan in which students must read selections of short stories, characterize the point of view(s) in the story, then create a database to organize their findings. Any other suggestions for integrating technology into literature or grammar lessons?

When we read the Odyssey I often have my students complete a web hunt so that they understand a little about the time, the culture, the people. I ask very specific questions that I know they can find on the internet (I created the hunt myself and found all the answers and I also give them a few site addresses to get them started).

-Have students video tape a scene from a play or a book with them acting it out. Some students will get a kick out of directing and acting in a short movie.
-Webquests are always great ways to get students familiar with websites and researching on the web.
-Students can design brochures of places in books, maps of the events in a book or mini posters promoting a theme of a book on a computer.
-Students can tape interviews of them pretending to be characters in a book using tape recording equipment.
-Have students create newspapers on computers about the main events in a book. They can insert clip art or use software to illustrate their stories.

There are some great grammar websites out there. Here's one: <http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/>
I'm sure if you google grammar or English teacher resources you'll find more

You might get some ideas from my blog: http://www.teaching-tips-machine.com/blog/

My last blog post was about technology in the classroom and my next few posts will be on that same topic...
