I'm creating a unit that covers all subjects based around the theme of Halloween for our 3rd and 4th grade classes. Does anyone have any specific activities that were successful in their classes?

Thanks for your time. I know we're all super busy!

Hi! I've done a math activity for the past couple years (5th gr.-but I'm going to do it this year in my 4th gr. class) that is not directly related to Halloween, but since you really need high interest activities that day- it works. You need one mini bag of M&Ms per student. I've made a worksheet that has the students predict how many candies are in the bag, find the range of M&M's per bag for the class, mean, median, mode, and has students graph by color and look at probability for picking each color randomly. The kids love it and they get to eat the M&Ms when they're done. Just email me if you'd like me to send you the worksheet.

I'd love to hear any other ideas/activities you're doing for Halloween.

Thanks,
Sarah

We have students look up local legends and folklore as an assigned project towards the end of September and then each students presents their legend, one per day in October. It's a ton of fun!
