There will already be a behavior management plan that the teacher you are visiting uses. You shouldn't really go against what she/he is already using. Ask the teacher how she/he approaches certain issues. However, you can do these following things without overstepping her/his authority:
1. Use positive reinforcement. Ignore the negative unless it is disrupting the learning environment and point out the student who is following procedures.
2. Start a boy/girl game and give points to the team that is following directions, raising hands etc. For example: If one of the boys calls out an answer without raising his hand, just say the girls get a point because they are raising their hand. Play the game all week and give a prize to those that won the game. That is, if you are there all week. If not, you can give out stickers, ****************ers (if that's ok with the teacher) or a happy note already typed up that they can bring home to show off to their parents.
3. Try not to discipline a child in front of everyone. You can walk over to that child and whisper in his/her ear how you do not approve of that particular behavior and feel very disappointed. Tell him/her that you know he/she can do better.
Hope this helps!
