Our state (LA) is really hitting teachers hard to implement these strategies into our lesson plans...most teachers perform differntiated instruction in their classrooms but aren't not sure how to document them in daily lesson plans?? any suggestions?

I ordered this book called, "Differentiated Instruction for Mathematics Instructions and activities for the diverse classroom". It has awesome ideas and activities to differentiate math instruction. The ISBN# is 0-8251-5895-8. I hope this helps!

I work with gifted students in Illinois. My strategy for tiered lesston plasn is TEACH TO THE TOP. Push all students harder and deeper than the textbook. You will see unbounded enthusiam. the differentiation comes from simplyfying the curriculum for the learners who are struggling with the pace, material, or interest. Always have additional activities to push depper for the top. Your modifications for the middles and bottom will be your tiered lesson. Gifted education has brought vigor, engagement and higher level thinking skills to the classroom. All children need these. Through differentiation a teacher can provide them.
Heres another book if it helps:

Searching for differentiated instruction on that same site www.EverythingAboutLearning.com will pull up a ton of other cool books too.
