I am a learning scientist at Carnegie Mellon University who works with and develops educational technology. I've developed a web-based tutor to help students learn stoichiometry. I'm currently running a study with these tutors and invite you (and, more specifically, your students) to participate. I would be happy to send you your students' scores which you could use as homework or extra credit.

This study is an excellent opportunity for your students to practice
stoichiometry problem solving using Pseudo-Tutors, a derivative of
Cognitive Tutors that have been used in over 2000 schools across the
United States and have been shown to improve learning in algebra and
geometry. Two high school chemistry teachers, Chuck Ceccarelli of Pittsburgh (ceccarelli@htsd.k12.pa.us) and Fran Zakutansky of northern New Jersey (fzak@pascack.k12.nj.us) have already started using the tutors in their classrooms.

You can try a demo version of the site at:

If you are interested in having your students do the actual study, they will go to a different website. Please contact me and I can provide the URL and guidance on using the actual study site.
