Does anyone have any ideas to do in Innovative Applications using Technology? I have a hard time with this curriculum. I have tried things like creating a cookbook, a portfolio, and other things, but nothing that has worked for me so far. Please give me your suggestions!

There are many ways to incorporate technology into your lessons. I teach high school English. When teaching Fahrenheit 451 to freshmen several years ago, I assigned a research project relating the censorship theme to people like Hitler or Joseph McCarthy. Each student created a power point and gave an oral presentation. When teaching Lord of the Flies, students had to create a survival guide. This semester after having taught Julius Caesar, my students had to create a Julius Caesar theme park brochure. I use the Jeopardy Game and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire power point templates for exam review. However, assignments do not have to be so involved. They can be as simple as taking students to the computer lab and allowing them to review SAT vocab through interactive games and quizzes. I find that the more I involve technology in my lessons, the more students want to participate.

Actually, Josef Stalin is probably the best comparison since his policies pretty much outlawed all independent thought. Hitler was an amateur in comparison.

Lots of interesting images and facts can be found through the Web and integrated into a PowerPoint presentation for the classroom. What kind of class are you teaching?
