I can’t believe DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg produced a movie that so blatantly stereotypes Italian Americans as ignorant, racist, murderers, and clearly stereotypes African Americans and Latinos negatively. Check out this link www.boycottsharktale.com, and take some action as a parent!

I dont think that you should look at the movie like that. The movie is just a movie it is not supposed mean anything. All movies have those sterotypes so I think that you should let them go see the movie. They dont pay any attention to that kind of stuff.

I took my son to see this movie this weekend and I have to say, it left me a little disturbed. Frankly, I felt that a lot of the humor was not appropriate for kids and the stereotypes were a little excessive. With our society being as divided as it is today, do we really need to subject our kids to stereotypes featured in this movie? Furthermore, I know that they’re indirect and kids probably won’t pick up on it, but was it necessary to include indirect homosexual references. As a parent of a six year-old, I don’t think so. Do a little homework on this movie; you’ll find that a lot of critics have said the same thing I have.

Is it that Shark Tales is rated G? It is a family movie!! You should let everybody in your family see it!

I think it’s difficult to prevent children seeing these types of films. I do think it good to start teaching children to be critical at an early age. Why not discuss stereotypes and racism with them after they have watched such a film?. I think it is very important to recognise the huge impact that films like a Shark Tale DO have, on children’s values .

Let your kids experience things while they are young and you can protect them. Dont wait and have them just thrown into this world.

No matter what you do your kids will hear and see these things. There is nothing you can really do. If they dont see it on TV then they will get it at school. Infact more things are learned from the kids at school with older brothers and sisters than you would think. Teaching your kids good morals is one thing. But this is a bit extreme. Your kids know things you dont know that they know. They wont tell you that though. It is better for them to learn things with you there than from the kids at school right? If you shelter your kid from everything you are crippling them. I know most people cant see that but you are.

I understand that yes 6 year old are seeing this movie. I bet you that they hear and see worse things at school. So this movie really isnt anything. They know its pretend and know that its not real. And the ones who dont are too young to understand anything you are worried about or they have been sheltered and cant read inbetween the lines yet.

Let them see these harmless movies, and teach them to read inbetween the lines. Show them its ok to pretend just not to actualy do this. If not they will have to learn from the kids at school (at some time or another) by peer pressure.

Let your kids experience things while they are young and you can protect them. Dont wait and have them just thrown into this world.

I really think that parents need to stop being so protective all the time. The reason for kids growing up and going crazy is because of over protective parents. :)
