My name is Eric. I am tutoring a student in which I need to do a reading assessment on before his IEP (Individualized Education Plan). I do not know when this will be. Please help if you can.

We would need to know a great deal more. What grade level? What age? What content/skills are you working on?

One of the easiest ways of finding out what a child is/is not doing when reading is to do a Running Record on the child. This is where the child reads out loud and the teacher records childs exactly what the child is saying, by placing a tick for each word correctly read and recording any errors made. Once the Running Record is completed, the Teacher can go back and analyse what the child is good at, and what he/she needs to work on.
