I am a first year teacher and now a month into school. I have no idea what to do with my writing program in my classroom. I have been just making up different activities each day and it has worked, but not that effective. My writing classes in college were horrible and I didn't learn much of anything. I don't even know where to begin as I am not very familiar with any program!

What grade level? What writing standards are you trying to teach? What is your instructional method?

I am teaching fourth grade. I have no standards besides what the state provides. We do not have a writing curriculum at our school. I started the year doing constructed responses about summer vacation and they did well. I need all the advice I can get because I don't even know where to begin!

Yes, you do... the State standards. That IS the writing curriculum.
The driving force of writing asignments is a graphic organizer. You need to choose one that fits the assignment you are trying to teach. I suggest you contact the following board and ask them for help:
