I am teaching high school English (I sometimes teach college courses but not this semester) and my husband teaches college geology (earth science). We would both be interested in your students' first hand accounts. Learning to deal with drastic changes can be difficult, but you are probably aware of how much we can learn from one another. Here in Kansas we deal with tornadoes and flooding, so many students can relate somewhat to hurricanes. My husband's students have several chapters about earthquakes, volcanoes, and weather related events. Thanks for the opportunity to share.

After much deliberation, I have decided it is in my family's best interest if we find pen pals through another venue. While most of the posts here seem genuine, there have been a few that are questionable. (Has anyone else noticed?) I mean no offense to anyone (unless of course you had ugly intentions). The reason being, as I scrolled into other past posts, I saw a post that seemed to say, " I am worried about screening/ security of my child." That is when I said we would give her name when we recieved mail. And why I prefer snail mail. Also, I am new to this whole site, seems great I must admit. As for multiple names, we are of Greek heritage , and have very long names. So , in one post I used a what in American culture would be considered a middle name, again, after reading that one post and thinking about online security Also, our group name is south.tampahomeschoolers. Good day everyone. Sadly, I am unable to homeschool my children, however, having been homeschooled myself has led me to look here for a penpal for my daughter. She is 7 y/o, and a real tomboy. She loves horses, reading, and watching football with her grandpa. We do not spend a lot of time on electronic entertainment, I encourage my children to be outside and to stay active as often as possible. I would like to find my daughter 1-3 penpals, boys and girls, from different walks of life. I would prefer pen-friends that will remain consistent in their letters, for a long-term pen-friendship. Her last penpal was 2 yrs ago, he wrote to her at least once a week for about 2 months, then the letters became less frequent, until finally stopping all together. We are a homeschooling family of three children. Two girls age 11 and 8 and a boy almost 14 with high functioning autism. My girls have penpals already but it has been very hard to find one for my son. We work on the letters during language arts so he really feels lonely during that time. Any boy or girl age 10 or older would probably be a good match for him. He likes music (all kinds-rock, metal, country, pop, rap, reggae etc.), playing guitar, piano and drums, drawing, writing stories, playing video games. He is extremely anti hannah montana/miley cyrus and taylor swift is on her way to that category too (he has two younger sisters who are singers ;) so it would probably be best to steer clear of those two as subject material.

Is there anyone who still needs a pen pal who would like to write to a seven year old boy? He has tried writing to several friends and relatives and no one sends letters back! I have four daughters who are almost 11, 9, 7, and almost 6. Is your soon to be 7 year old a boy or girl? Do you have any other children? I also have two boys 11 mos. and 3 years. The 3 year old may be able to dictate letters.
