I am interested in pursuing a career at a Montessori school. Is there anybody out there that can assist me? I am a single mom and have limited funds when it comes to my education, so am considering doing some on-line training. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

I, too, am a single mom and a Montessori teacher. I recommend that you do NOT become a Montessori teacher unless the income which you would earn from it would be surperfluous. Montessori teachers are paid the LEAST of all teachers: below public schools, below catholic schools.

I have taught for ten years now in Montessori and made $36,ooo dollars last year. If you are public school certified and become Montessori certified, you can make more money by working in a public-Montessori school but they are few and far between.

You will work LONG hours to the point that it is hard to fit in the second part-time job you will need to make ends meet. I love teaching Montessori with all of my heart but it has literally put me in the poor house. Research salaries well before you make the leap. Make sure you can live off of almost nothing with limited benefits.
